Today’s bathrooms can be planned with the future in mind without compromising on design and functionality. Flush shower, raised toilet, or generously sized washing area with legroom - the timeless and modern bathroom can become a flexible companion throughout all phases of life. Features that enhance coziness and comfort in younger years also enable independence and quality of life later on. The long useful life of the bathroom furniture can also increase the value of a property.

Design and functionality for the washing area

Wheelchair users, people with disabilities, or people who use a walking frame face a range of challenges. The washbasin should be sufficiently large, comfortable to reach, and convenient to use. At the same time, it shouldn’t appear sterile, but should instead match the furnishing style within the home.

Consoles from the DuraStyle or L-Cube bathroom furniture ranges combined with the built-in or above-counter basins are an ideal solution as they also offer the freedom to access the washing area with a wheelchair. In addition, above-counter washbasins permit a raised washing position, avoiding the need for users to stoop. Thanks to large surrounds, all care products can be kept within easy reach.

Washing areas of a sufficient width can be supplemented with vanity units to the side with the option of one or two drawers for storage. These can be fitted with drawer dividers in Maple or Walnut. With a range of wood décors, high-gloss varnishes, and real-wood veneers available, the consoles offer plenty of options for creating an individual look. Moveable mirrors and shelves in a range of heights ensure ease of access by wheelchair users.

Raised seating and remote-control operation

People who are no longer as agile as they once were or who depend on a wheelchair prefer to be able to sit down and stand up easily instead of having to strenuously bend their knees. The sitting position of the Starck 3 wall-mounted toilet is therefore five centimeters higher. It can be installed using existing connections for renovation projects.

The SensoWash® Slim and SensoWash® Starck f shower toilets offer maximum comfort – and not only for people with disabilities. The integrated stainless-steel spray arm with three shower modes can be used as a bidet and makes it easier to use the toilet. The unit can be operated via a remote control or an app.

Easy entry: flush-fitting showers

A shower tray that is flush with the floor is not just a good solution in terms of looks, it is easy to clean and helps to prevent falls. It additionally provides ample room to maneuver – including for a carer if need be.

Two models made from different materials are especially suited to forward-looking planning: both the Stonetto shower tray made from robust and anti-slip DuroCast UltraResist and the Tempano shower tray made from sanitary acrylic. Installed flush with the floor, semi-recessed, or on the floor tiles, Tempano is suitable for a wide range of structural factors and personal preferences. A shower seat in the shower offers additional safety and comfort.

The Shower + Bath designed by EOOS is ideal as a combination of walk-in shower and bath – in a minimum of space. Thanks to an integrated glass door, the bathtub is easily converted into an open and accessible shower. If the door is opened towards the inside of the bathtub, it disappears beneath a waterproof cushion. The firm cushion is positioned on the integrated door and the edge of the bathtub, offering a comfortable seat and additional shelf space.
