A square wooden house nestles in the coastal landscape of Western Zealand on an expansive unspoiled plot near Røsnæs. Clean lines, natural materials, and extensive windows visually draw the surroundings into the house and open up the view of the sea. This holiday home for a family from Copenhagen provides space for retreat, tranquility, and a lifestyle in harmony with nature.
The house is inspired by the Njordrum principle – clean lines, natural materials, and minimalist design characterize the overall aesthetic.
The family were clear about their requirements during the design phase: functional, elegant, and unique. Duravit products were therefore the logical choice.


Design in a nutshell

The two bathrooms – just 3.3 and 3.5 square meters in size – demonstrate how clever planning can create a high-quality ambience even in a small space.
Wall-mounted furniture and compact ceramics such as the DuraSquare washbasin or the ME by Starck toilet create freedom of movement and accentuate the clean lines. “Every element counts, especially in small rooms,” said architect Lars Vejen, who provided support for the project. “The Duravit products are consistent with the clean design language of the house – and reflect the family’s desire for simple elegance and restrained luxury.”


Architecture as a quiet gesture

The summer house is an example of a style of living that combines contemporary design and sensitivity for the landscape. The cleanly structured, pared-down architecture is an homage to the nature surrounding it. Scandinavian design language meets functional aesthetics – and creates spaces that are both contemporary and also close to nature.
